*NEW* Feature Friday - Give The Dog A Bone 1st of November

New Feature Friday!
Featuring Give The Dog A Bone

Hello Lovelies! Hope you're having a grand Friday, and also enjoyed Halloween. It's the first of November and the first of this month's feature Fridays! Now this feature I've been so excited to show to my readers, mainly because this is a store I visit every time I go to York.
Give the dog a bone is a shop which consists of everything that's unique, different, quirky and fun! For the whole family they provide gifts and cards, pop culture to favourite comic and cartoons such as Danger mouse to TinTin!

My favourite brand which they sell there is Disaster designs/paper plane, with creative and unique purses and bags; it's always hard not to be tempted whenever I've been there of course!

It's a pleasure to interview the Manager of York's Give the dog a bone to hear about her job and to get to know more about her and the shop!

-------------------------------------------------------
Interview with Cat l Manager of Give The Dog A Bone

1) What has been your key inspiration to your current career?
My key inspiration is actually very simple: it is my personal taste! I started out just working in the shop as a Saturday girl, and the longer I've been working at ...give the dog a bone, the more I've come to realise that if you have a passion for what you do, that passion is easy for your customers to see, and it makes them enthusiastic about what you do or sell. I can genuinely say I love what we sell, and although you can fake it, nothing is more obvious to a customer than half hearted sales talk.

2) What do you enjoy the most about your job?
The thing I love most about my job is probably tied between making the displays – and picking what we sell! I LOVE thinking of creative ways to display the items we have to sell in our shop, and especially love designing the window displays. Recently we had a Super Mario themed window display and we made the entire window look like a level from Super Mario Bros. That is great fun. But I have to admit that I adore choosing new stock to sell and visiting trade shows to see what new items our suppliers have in the pipeline. It is like the biggest shopping spree ever, but without any of the regret, because it is all stock for the shop!

3) To date, what has been your 'proudest' moment?
My proudest moment I think has to be when one of our suppliers was so impressed by one of the Doctor Who displays we made that they featured it in their newsletter, used it as an example for other stockists, and even sent a copy to the BBC. It’s nice to know that even though we are a small business we can still make people sit up and take notice of us.

4) Where do you see yourself in the future?
In the future I think I’d like to run my own shop, but maybe make it more boutique style than ...give the dog a bone, maybe with clothes, and pretty shoes. Oh and with a chaise lounge in the changing room. Obviously!

5) What tips/advice would you give to someone who wants to go down the same career path as yourself?
If you’re wanting to go into working in the gift industry, I’d start out early on by getting work experience in either a small independent gift shop, or maybe somewhere bigger, like Paperchase. Experience on the shop floor is invaluable as you need to know not only how your customers think, but your staff too!

6) Which would you say is your favourite item off your website at the moment?
My favourite item HAS to be the new “Bohemia Satchel” by Disaster Designs. It is so beautiful and a really useful size too.

*NEW* Feature Friday - Cheeky Poppins 18th of October

New Feature Friday!
Featuring Cheeky Poppins

Horrraaaaaay It's Friday and hopefully you all have that Friday feeling! Of course It wouldn't be Friday without Feature Friday on UniqueLoveStyle, so without further a due here's this week's Feature, Cheeky Poppins!

I recall coming across this website and completely falling in love with the concept. There are many quirky ways to add glitz to any outfit, whether it's shoes a blazer or need to add something to your hair.. Cheeky Poppins brings the glamorous quick fix for all those needs! Very well known for their Shoekies which came from the well known moment where an unfortunate staining to a favourite pair of shoes occur, a versatile clip with that added sparkle was used to hide the stain but also bring the shoes back to life with a new look.
But it doesn't end there, Cheeky Poppins also create alternatives to jewellery, special occasions and day to day adornments!

I was intrigued to hear more of the story of the 'Shoekies' as I had the chance to interview Jennifer, the owner of Cheeky Poppins.

-------------------------------------------------------
Interview with Jennifer Chuks l Owner of Cheeky Poppins Shoe Clips

1) What has been your key inspiration to your current career?
My key inspiration is trying my hardest to inspire originality in fashion by more than just a few daredevils. To see more risk takers on the high street and more eccentricities in my South London neighbourhood. It doesn't take as much effort as some hipsters may make you assume to add a bit of originality and uniqueness to an ensemble, and I have always believed the easiest way to personalise and jazz up anything are the accessories. The easiest but by no means the most dramatic, but if we were all dramatic there will be panic.

2) What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I enjoy the feedback I get from customers the most. I do a lot of instagramming and take a lot of street style images and talk a lot to real people. Tell them about the product and their excitement fills me with more enthusiasm for my product each day. I thought it would never cotton on and I am very glad to eat my own words.

3) To date, what has been your 'proudest' moment?
My proudest moment was winning “Best Selected Exhibitor” by Show Review UK magazine when I exhibited at my first ever trade show Pure London 34 in August this year. I put every bit of my personality into my stand to really hammer home our fun fashion ethos. We had cake stands to display the product in, filled with brightly coloured tissue paper and each accessory was literally the icing on each cake. Boutique owners and buyers loved the concept and the product and it has been a whirlwind of busy busy busy ever since. It was a big investment and I was so proud that we shone brightly enough and were awarded for it.

4) Where do you see yourself in the future?
I certainly don’t see myself slowing down in any way shape or form in the future. I hope to go from strength to strength with the product. The range has tripled since its launch and I only wish to continue with Cheeky Poppins Shoe Clips as the most innovative product in high street fashion for a very long time.

5) What tips/advice would you give to someone who wants to go down the same career path as yourself?
I am not sure I am in a position to give advice as everyone’s situation going into a career in fashion will be extremely different. Something which applies to every Dick, Tom and Harry would be research your toosh off. Research, research, research. Perspective is a very useful asset and will help a bunch. And sleep, don’t try and be a superhero, it will catch up with you. I think that is the most constructive advice I can broadly dish out.

6) Which would you say is your favourite item off your website at the moment?
Ah my favourite question. When I saw Bella I realised how girly I actually was. I watch wrestling, am an avid gym goer and prefer cider to a G&T. It has been ages since I have left the house without glass beaded bows attached to my shoes, aka Bella. Purse friendly, real leather so I don’t have to fret if I get caught in the rain and uber transferable. Worn on Converse and snake skin peep toe platforms alike, day and night. I absolutely love them.

Knitted Bootie Owl Slippers & Mememe Cosmetics Gift Set - Beautifully Bronzed

Here are my own thoughts and personal views on these products which I was kindly given to review, all comments and opinions are 100% genuine and my own and I have not been paid to do so.

----------------------------------------------

I was ever so excited to see these adorable slipper booties on their website; they are just as snug as they look too! This year i have loved anything with owl designs on, whether its clothing or furniture i find them so cute so to pick which design to try out... of course i chose the owl!
They are sculptured nicely so can be easily slipped on and off without any problems, I immediately noticed how comfortable they were with a non-slip sole! The interior is a fleece like texture, which helps even more with keeping the feet warm through the cold season. I'm only a size 4 but these booties can fit from a 4 to a 7 so for me they are indeed very snug. These are currently in stock over on their website along with varies designs, from £17.99. I'm sure i'll be snuggled up wearing these during Christmas, if you do purchase these remember they are also for indoor use only! Perfect for your family or friends!

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ever stuck for finding a cute beauty gift-set for that special someone? Let them shine this season with gorgeous bronze and gold tones with the beautifully bronzed set from MeMeMe cosmetics. These have been a brand that i have always enjoyed using their products due to their long lasting wear, unique shades and highly pigmented. This set is perfect for those who adore make-up or this brand, with something for the eyes, lips, nails and face with a cute chic make-up bag to store them within. These shades are stunning for winter, and really bring warmth to the skin. What stood out to me the most had to be the bronzing goddess rocks which can be used by sweeping a powder brush or a blush brush along these formed bronze powder rocks to then apply to the cheeks and nose for a sun-kissed look that leaves your skin glowing! Perfect Christmas gift for women and teenagers that's available on-line at £24.99!

Here are my own thoughts and personal views on these products which I was kindly given to review, all comments and opinions are 100% genuine and my own and I have not been paid to do so.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly is the most stunning set perfect for that natural and nude look,
It's the MeMeMe Makeup gift set - Naturally Nude.

About this Product

12ml of Ambitious nail colour
Full sized cream lipstick colour in China Rose
The Willow Whisper and Coral Blossom Dew Pots measure approx 3.3 cm x 2.3 cm x 3.3 cm each
The cosmetics bag measures approx 23 cm x 14 cm x 8 cm

What's in the makeup bag?
1 x Blusher
1 x Satin Lip Cream
2 x Cream Eyeshadows
1 x Nail Varnish

Here are the products in more detail and my own thoughts of them

Blush Me! Shade- Coral
8g Product, best used within 18Months of purchase.

Product contains applicator brush and mirror within the lid.

I have heard before so many positive reviews on MeMeMe's Blushes and i can totally see why! The appearance reminds me very much of benefit blushes and their usual contents, but i have found the applicator brush feels just that more softer on the skin than benefit's!
The blush is compact with a powder base, that is highly pigmented and also can be built up to a matte effect. It is a beautiful peach/coral tone which has a soft texture to it whether you use the brush or just your finger tip to apply to the cheekbones. This shade is perfect for that flush effect and if your daring to try a coral shade this would be great to start off with as it has its slight pinkish tone to it also!

Blush Swatch

Now as a lot of you may already know i adore nail varnish! And what has been hot this season is the perfect nude shade; MeMeMe has included shade 78 in Ambitious within the naturally nude set.

12ml product, best used within 6 months of purchase

I adore this shade so much! Having pale nails with being pale skinned has always worried me on how it would appear so for this i have always tried to avoid un-flattering shades; But to then hear that a big colour trend for nails this season was nudes i had my heart set on finding the right one for me! This varnish is so delightful to wear, and has been perfect for my skin tone! Its a mixture of a dusky pink and beige tone which is very glossy and sophisticated looking, it makes the nails appear longer and manicured! As always i recommend a base coat before applying this product, although it is pale i will still recommend to be on the safe side; But i shall say a topcoat is completely optional as this varnish alone has a glossed shine.

Nail Varnish Swatch

Also included within the gift set were these two Dew pots! which are rich colour eye defining cream In Willow whisper and coral blossom.

Each pot is 3ml, best used within 6months of purchase.

These are beautiful shades that can be worn together or separately, the tones are both natural and subtle for an everyday look, even for bridal make-up! These eye-shadows are cream based, I found the more the product was applied the intense the pigment became. They also have a shimmer to them which can be picked up under lighting but its very natural and not overwhelming which I love about them! Due to the inside container being quite narrow i would suggest using an eye-shadow applicator brush when using this item, i found that this item was so easy to blend and the consistency was compact yet softly textured.

View of Coral Blossom on the Left and Willow Whisper on the Right.

Swatch of each colour.

Last but of course no means least from the naturally nude MeMeMe gift set is this adorable dusky pink satin lipcream lipstick in ChinaRose.

I have seen this shade many times in stores and it has become very popular amongst bloggers! This is a perfect muted pink tone to add that little colour to your lips; This shade is perfect for all skin tones! Would be a lovely lipstick to also wear on your wedding day for those perfect lips and can be touched up during the day. This lipstick has a sheen to it and is very creamy when applying so my tip is to blot the lips after application to help matte the overall effect. This shade is very pigmented and can be built up with applying although it is a cream base lip product i would still apply a lipbalm before hand for that soft not dried out as this can be the case during the autumn/winter periods.

Swatch of the product

If your interested in purchasing this gift for yourself or someone special you can find it here at -

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

For another wonderful beauty gift, here is the balm's shady lady giraffe palette Vol 3!

14.4g Product, 9 shades, Mirror inside also.

First impressions of this product was how quirky its appearance was! The packaging had an outer slip which helps the palette to remain compact, when the slip is removed the palette can be opened and closed easily with a magnetic closure. When opening the palette you can find a mirror within the top half that is completely secure, which makes it handy for when on the go touch ups!  Each shade has its own girly name which i found very
creative when it came to the names they used such as, 'All the way Annie  'Come hither Heather' and 'safe bet Annette' I think this helps to make much more of a fun product to look at as well as use! Every shadow has shimmer, which the paler colours are perfect for highlighting and the darker can either be blended for a smoky effect or applied for intensity. Personally the shades appear perfect for a natural look especially within the autumn season with its moss green and plum shade included.

As you may also notice, not only does the palette show which shade is which by printing the name of each above the shade themselves but also if it is an eye-shadow or can also be used as an eye-liner which i think is a nice touch to give people more ideas on how to use the palette when trying different looks! These eyeshadows are compact powder based and very soft to the touch, lovely pigmentation and in all i think this would make such a nice gift for someone who loves their palettes and all things retro this christmas time!
