New Feature Friday!
Featuring Rockalily Cuts

Happy Friday everyone! I'm so pleased to announce this week's Feature a fun and hip salon, Rockalily Cuts!
They are a London based vintage hair salon for both his and hers hairstyling. Alongside selling hair products, they have their amazing Rockalily lipsticks which are animal friendly, enriched with vitamin E, and just as flattering as they ever were! They provide the most memorable experience for vintage and retro styling, and colouring too perfect to reveal your glamorous side out!
They have been featured on Channel 4, in Geeked MagazineSuitcase Magazine, and UK Rock N Roll Magazine; And their Rockalily Lipsticks were also featured in Cosmopolitan MagazineHello Magazine and Total tattoo Magazine.

It's been a complete joy to not only feature them but to have an interview with the lovely Ree Ree Rockette herself!

 -------------------------------------------------------
Interview with Ree Ree Rockette l Owner of Rockalily Cuts, Blogger and Columnist

1) What has been your key inspiration to your current career?
I want to create the life I dream of, and my old career wasn't doing that. I really enjoyed being a teacher, but it just didn't seem to offer the path that I craved deep down. I was ready for a new challenge, and greater control over my day-to-day lifestyle. I hate mornings, and yet I'd ended up in a job that meant very early starts! It just didn't feel right. I wasn't sure what else I would be good at, so I started working part time in a burlesque club, and I meet a bunch of ladies who were so creative and different that it just got my thinking. I eventually found my new path, and launched a lipstick brand and no own a hair salon. I also have a column in a tattoo magazine, run a business networking group and am a blogger.

2) What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I love that I have flexibility to my days. Some days I work on my laptop from a coffee shop, some days I'm at the desk in the salon. I get to meet some really interesting people and get invited to things I otherwise wouldn't. I really enjoy that I can get my work done on my terms - I'm often working at 2am, but then will go for breakfast with a friend the next day. I have a fantastic team of staff, and we're a little family that I feel really proud of.

3) To date, what has been your 'proudest' moment?
Gosh so many! Hiring staff was pretty kick arse. Being listed as one of London's best hairdressers by Time Out was one. But even the smaller moments, like being able to go away, and the salon run perfectly without me, or having someone email and say that my blog really helped them/inspired them with something are great too.

4) Where do you see yourself in the future?
Who knows!? I see bigger and better things though! I'm very driven to succeed, and I'm nowhere near where I want to be just yet!

5) What tips/advice would you give to someone who wants to go down the same career path as yourself?
I believe you need to want it. Not just fancy it a bit, not just feel it would be nice, but really want it. To be willing to immerse yourself in it, to not switch off, and to be willing to just keep going. I live, breathe, sleep and dream about my business. I love it, and it excites me, but it has completely taken over my brain. It's not just a job, it's my life, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I also think you need to surround yourself with positivity  Fill your mind mind with positive thoughts and your company with positive people.

6) Which would you say is your favourite item off your website at the moment?
My disco pants have been giving me lots of joy...they're shiny blue; to match my hair ;-) I've also had a lot of fun with comic print!

Please go ahead and check out the wonderful Rockalily Cuts and their website, for more information on their prices, opening hours and much more!

*NEW* Feature Friday - Dragon Dreads 23rd of August

New Feature Friday!
Featuring Dragon Dreads

Hello there beauties and happy Friday to you all! Hope you've all had a pleasant week; I do apologize for no Feature Friday last week, due to reasons I could not help I unfortunately couldn't get the post up, but..Here it is!
This week's Feature is all about a inspiring business which is Dragon Dreads, an on-line store where you can purchase the most wonderful jewellery to even corsets with that kitsch and rockabilly edge to them. This was a business I simply stumbled upon by complete luck, what really drew me in was their perfectly categorised ranges which directs you easily to their products.
Their prices are ever so affordable too! Perfect for gifts as there is something unique about their items than you'd get from any retail store.

I was so pleased to have an interview with Sally who owns Dragon Dreads to hear more about her business career in this independent industry!

 -------------------------------------------------------
Interview with Sally l Owner/Creator of Dragon Dreads

1) What has been your key inspiration to your current career?
I think books have been my biggest inspiration, in my current career and my life in general. I am an avid reader and I think it is my love of reading which has unlocked my creative potential. Books teach you anything is possible, you just have to start the adventure, there may be some pitfalls and distractions on the way, but if you keep at it you'll succeed. I think this sums up running your own business perfectly. It's a struggle but the journey is what makes it worthwhile. I am a qualified librarian and I have brought my passion for literature into my jewellery business by creating our very popular 'novel necklaces' range. I try to choose cult books, stories which has got people talking, or create fond memories of childhood bed times.

2) What do you enjoy the most about your job?
The freedom to let my imagination run wild. I love the process of designing a new range or creating a new piece. I quite enjoy locking myself away in the studio and just getting carried away in the whole process. I love seeing people wearing and enjoying my jewellery.

3) To date, what has been your 'proudest' moment?
Opening my own shop in Croydon was something I’ll always be proud of. I think I'm proudest of the fact that since selling my jewellery to other companies and fashion boutiques, my jewellery is now available in shops worldwide.

4) Where do you see yourself in the future?
I’d like to continue expanding my ranges, I’d love to get my jewellery stocked in the USA. I think I’d like to see the Dragon Dreads brand get bigger and bigger.

5) What tips/advice would you give to someone who wants to go down the same career path as yourself?
Don’t be scared or put off, just do it. Everyone makes a big deal of you need a business plan and money etc.  to start a business. Honestly if you want to sell your handmade jewellery, make a small enough amount to fill a stall, and get down to your local market. I started off in Camden market. I used the money I made from my regular job and started buying in basic beading supplies and made the odd necklaces and earrings I liked. I turned up one Saturday at the Electric Ballroom in Camden with what I’d made and set up shop. A stall only costs £30, they supply the table and chairs. All you need is a table cloth and some stock and you’ll be making money before you know it. Then get an idea of what is popular, what sells well, build a customer base. The best advice I can give is don’t be afraid to take risks, never regret the ‘what if’s’ in life.

6) Which would you say is your favourite item off your website at the moment?
That’s such a hard question. I love them all! I think it would have to be one of the vintage Disney necklaces from the new ‘One little Spark’ range. Probably the Little Mermaid one as that was my favourite film as a child and I love the Art Novo style of the poster used in the cameo.

Creative Caviar Nails - Sparkly-Nails Review*

Caviar Beads with Sparkly-Nails

Hello there beauties! Hope you're all doing well, I still can not believe it is August already, my how this year has flown! Today's review is all about nails, and a trend you may have been seeing a lot of, The caviar beads!

Many brands have been picking up this unique style trend, with different shades and ideas on application. The wonderful Sparkly-Nails always have a complete variety of colourful caviar beads; which I have been excited to show you all my thoughts and views on this trend.

The gorgeous Rainbow mix is what I received to review, it came sealed within a 15g bag which was completely full of 1mm sized beads. The colours were beautiful, they just reminded me of the hundreds and thousands you would sprinkle on top of a cupcake. But please be warned these are not edible nor should they be around little ones if they are to swallow them!

Of course seeing as all my reviews are honest, I did have quite a struggle with perfecting the caviar look! These beads are quite fiddly, but after a few attempts I seemed to get more of the skill going. I put a few of the beads into a flat surfaced container so they wouldn't run away and made a layer of clear varnish on one of the nails; While the nail is still wet/tacky I placed it facing down onto the beads allowing them to cling onto the varnish. I feel the best way to apply is to be gentle but firm when patting down the beads so that they are an even layer upon the nail.

Personally I would only do this effect on the ring finger of each hand, rather than every nail. And to choose a nail varnish for the other nails that is very close to one of the bead's shades would look just as pretty. Depending how careful you are when going about day to day with this nail trend, do expect them to occasionally fall off! But they can easily be re-applied with a wooden cocktail stick to just fill in those gaps.
Do check out Sparkly-Nails for their fabulous colour selection of Caviar Beads at such an affordable price too!

Perfect Scents At Lloyds Pharmacy - Juicy Couture Couture*

I've been honoured to have the opportunity to review for LloydsPharmacy, for those who aren't sure what LloydsPharmacy is they're a leading community pharmacy and healthcare provider with over 1,650 pharmacies across the UK, mainly in community and health centre locations.
They also sell a variety of products from health and well-being to beauty and fragrance; I've been given the chance to select a perfume from their website to provide my honest opinions and comments.

All comments and opinions are 100% my own and I've not been paid to say them.

-----------------------------------------------

Juicy Couture Couture Fragrance Review

On receiving the item, knowing that it was a perfume, I was hopeful that it would arrive safely and damage free in the post...Which luckily it did!
The main reason I chose this scent to review was due to the fact I'm a complete Juicy Couture newbie! I've never even sampled their scents so to try this for the first time was an exciting joy to have.
This is the 30ml sized product, I already adore the packaging, Juicy couture go the whole way to make their products appealing and feminine. Perfectly sealed the box explained its contents, ingredients and size etc all in a beautiful golden font that was easy to read. To me the way that the product's information and title is printed, is a edgy but still yet glamorous style with the hot pink lettering catching the eye.

Opening the packaging/box completely felt like Christmas, it was  a wonderful surprise to see such a outstanding bottle of perfume. Already it was shouting out to me that it's a bottle you would never want to throw away even when you've used it up! Perfect for displaying even on a dressing table, Juicy couture couture has a classy appearance. Paying attention to the smallest detail of the top and the added charm to the bottle I was hoping that this scent would smell as good as it looks!

My first reaction after the delicate spray pumped onto my collarbone and wrists was oh my goodness.. I noticed that the scent did have a strong kick to it to begin with, I've been a lover of very light and sweet fragrances so this was something I wasn't use to..But I did begin to gradually become use to it and the scent must have calmed down in around 30minutes of trying it. It has a fun and flirty scent that was noticed quite a few times from people's reactions, so positive compliments/reactions was a complete bonus!
Upon first application the mandarin orange, orange blossom and grapefruit top notes are smooth and strangely intriguing. What follows is mostly plum, rich and jammy. The honeysuckle and jasmine sit lightly in the background, providing subtle hints of softness and femininity. The drydown isn't particularly ground-breaking, however it is extremely pleasant and soft. The sandalwood, amber and vanilla provide a nice, basic conclusion to a rather unique fragrance.
I've enjoyed wearing it on both daytime and evenings out, and will be interested in looking at other Juicy couture fragrances in the near future.

-----------------------------------------------

Juicy Couture Couture is currently available and in stock on the LloydsPharmacy website here -

If you've tried this fragrance before what have your thoughts been about it?
Do let me know in the comments section, I'll be sure to read them!

-------------------------------------------------------
Interview with Kate Garey l Owner/Designer of KateGarey.com

1) What has been your key inspiration to your current career?
My brand came about quite organically and it’s hard to pin point specific inspirations as there are so many. I really enjoy using retro prints like polka dots and stripes to be the back drop for my designs. I try to stick to a theme for each collection but I try and let ideas come to me naturally. Business peeps wise I was really in awe of brands like Lulu Guinness and Cath Kidston and I love illustrators Kate Sutton & Gemma Correll. Really there are so many inspiring business, creative and crafty women out there I feel I am in good company and am inspired by them all every day. Design wise I look to nature, animals and retro feel.
2) What do you enjoy the most about your job?
It’s lovely being able to be creative each day. To listen to music as loud as you like while you are working. Meeting fellow creatives for coffee & a chat. Getting all excited each time one of your new designs comes to life. Ultimately being your own boss.

3) To date, what has been your 'proudest' moment?
I think my proudest moment is yet to come. There is a lot I want to do still so I'm looking forward to doing them. I'm proud to have started and grown my own business on my own without really knowing what I was doing. It’s a brave thing to make dreams a reality. I also get a nice buzz when I get some press in a magazine or paper, It’s weird seeing your name in print.

4) Where do you see yourself in the future?
Oooh that's a mystery! I’d really like to keep growing, spreading the word about my little business. There are more products I’d like to try and do but for now I'm concentrating on the handbags & accessories.

5) What tips/advice would you give to someone who wants to go down the same career path as yourself?
Be brave, take the leap.

6) Which would you say is your favourite item off your website at the moment?
I love the Mr Sausage Dog Day Bag but I'm excited about my A/W collection coming out in September. I can’t decide between The Dapper doctors bag or the Mad Legs Luxx Bag.

-------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------

It has been a complete joy to tell you all more about Kate Garey and her fabulous creations! Looking forward to all of her A/W range coming out in September!
Kate Garey's products are available to be shipped worldwide and do not miss the current summer sale that is on with over 70% off!

*NEW* Feature Friday - Me & Yu 2nd of August

New Feature Friday!
Featuring Me&Yu

It's Friday horraaah!! and I'm very excited to introduce this week's Feature Friday here on UniqueLoveStyle; Me&Yu! Each design from Me&Yu is hand-drawn and hand-printed by them in a studio in an old Cotton Mill in Manchester.
Quality, art and aesthetics are at the heart of every collection, with quirky pieces inspired by animals, imaginary worlds, symbolism and inspiring quotes. All of their pieces are unisex, some are hand-made and all are hand-printed. Screen printing each item individually creates subtle changes in texture and location each garment is slightly different from the next.

Such a creative company of course I couldn't wait to hear more from the talented Angie during our interview.

-------------------------------------------------------
Interview with Angie Hulme l Owner/Designer of Me&Yu

1) What has been your key inspiration to your current career?
I've always just loved fashion, been inspired by making, drawing and just being creative in general. I think the driving force behind what we do is the idea to make a living out of what you love and enjoy.

2) What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I love the freedom that being self employed gives you. Yes you work twice as many hours as you would for someone else but you're in complete control of what you do and when - I'm certainly not a slave to the 9-5.

3) To date, what has been your 'proudest' moment?
I still feel proud if I see someone wearing one of my designs, but in general I just feel amazed that we've managed to make a successful business in the creative industries at a difficult economic time.

4) Where do you see yourself in the future?
We're emigrating to Australia this year, as well as keeping our UK shop and website open, we're hoping to grow the business globally, and I'd like to think the future sees us being a success on a larger scale.

5) What tips/advice would you give to someone who wants to go down the same career path as yourself?
It's very hard work. Be prepared for lots of long days and sleepless nights. Get as much experience as possible - work for other people and learn as much as you can about everything. Test the market by selling your own creations and learn all about your potential customers.

6) Which would you say is your favourite item off your website at the moment?
My new favourite design is the yin yang oversize tunic dress at £22, we also do the same design on a unisex t-shirt at £15 - it's just so fresh and clean, a perfect summer look.

-------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------

A big big thank you to Angie and her business for letting myself and my readers to find out more about their fabulous creations!

Check them out over on their social sites!
